The James J. Peters VA Medical Center is seeking a Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to be an integral part of the Specialty Care Department at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. The incumbent applicant should possess leadership, energy, compassion, and commitment to serve those who serve our Country.
Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Possessing leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with other departments and other disciplines, including collaboration with other Section Chiefs and Section Supervisors throughout the Dental Service Line
- Being responsible for the supervision, administrative management, and direction of the Oral Surgeon Attendings, rotating Residents in Training, and Dental Assistants assigned to that specialty.
- Typical duties include, but not limited to:
- Creating work assignments
- Monitoring Oral Surgeon Attendings, rotating Residents in Training, and Dental Assistants assigned to that specialty's clinical performance
- Conducting performance appraisals and other clinical and administrative responsibilities as assigned by the General Surgery Service Chief
- Reporting to the General Surgery Chief and working closely with him/her to achieve duties as delegated
- As an Infection Control Representative
- Being assigned as Delegation of Authority to verify and approve Oral Surgery consults
- Being responsible for Patient Advocate concerns
- Overseeing Providers' clinic coverage at local service level
- Ensuring productivity for Oral Surgery Section is maintained at the established level
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
