Major Duties and Responsibilities to include but not be limited to:
The clinical and program activities assumed under this position are conducted as part of the Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM) Program. The goal of the MHICM Program is to develop, implement and assess the benefit of a behaviorally oriented program or psychosocial rehabilitation, intensive case management and community-based treatment for chronically mentally ill veterans who have been high uses of Inpatient Mental Health services. Work is done in the context of an interdisciplinary treatment team, and extensive liaison activities with other interdisciplinary teams are required to provide continuity of care for assigned veterans in outpatient settings.
- Provide a full range of therapeutic interventions in units/programs in the Hampton VA Health Care System to which they are assigned and has clinical privileges to practice including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation and management. Recognizes the need for the appropriate level of care including routine, urgent and emergent status and recognizes the need to refer the patents for inpatient care.
- Will provide support and clinical oversight to their program.
- Will work with interdisciplinary team. Participates effectively in team meeting and treatment planning conferences and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care.
- Performs appropriate evaluation and management of patients to include ordering of diagnostic tests and consultations and discriminates between normal and abnormal findings and makes appropriate treatment decisions.
- Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions to units/programs to which assigned and has clinical privileges to practice in.
- Is involved in the supervision and teaching of house staff and other trainees assigned to the clinical area as appropriate.

EDRP Authorized: Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) Authorized: This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
