You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-06:
- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade, GS 05, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
1. Collecting patient specimens (such as venipuncture/phlebotomy, finger sticks, urine, or sputum) using proper technique and ensuring accurate labeling for laboratory analysis.
2. Assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, feeding, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
3. Promoting infection prevention and control through consistent use of standard precautions and proper hand hygiene.
4. Accurately documenting patient care, vital signs, or procedures performed in an electronic health record.
5. Observe patients and report changes to higher level medical staff.
6. Experience with diagnostic and/or therapeutic instruments.
