- Exhibits knowledge and skill to prepare, administer, and document actions for commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications, following facility policies and procedures.
- Conducts COVID surveillance testing as required.
- Performs breathalyzer and urine drug screen (UDAS) testing.
- Observes and documents patient responses to administered medications and reports any changes in condition to RN, Program Manager, or Psychiatric/Medical Provider.
- Recognizes the need for emergency measures, initiates appropriate actions, seeks assistance from RN and providers, and assists in resuscitation during behavioral or medical emergencies.
- Identifies equipment breakage, malfunctions, safety hazards, or supply shortages and reports issues promptly for corrective action.
- Performs duties under the general supervision of an RN.
- Maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Answers telephones and call lights; directs patients and families by providing routine information.
- Assists in providing patient education and participates in recovery-oriented unit programming, including social skills training, music, exercise, therapeutic recreation, and ADL skills groups.
- Enforces unit rules regarding food, dress code, property, escorts, funds, visitors, contraband, and behavioral expectations.
- Conducts and documents safety and environmental rounds, monitoring for hazards and reporting potential risks per policy.
- Uses appropriate communication channels and contributes to team meetings, task forces, and committees.
- Adheres to Mental Health Patients' Rights and related legal and ethical guidelines.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Day shift, 7:30am-4:00pm, including weekends/holidays; exact days to be determined.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by the VA.
