Supervisory Pharmacy Technician

Receive and review prescriptions, using knowledge of general principles of pharmaceutical practices. | Advise patients and professional medical personnel of possible adverse reactions and drug interactions. | Inventory and reorder medications and other pharmacy supplies according to pharmacy operating requirements and procedures. | Assign responsibilities to subordinates. | Determine training needs and assure necessary training needs are filled. | Prepare requests for filling vacancies and select subordinates.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes overseeing or training pharmacy personnel; receiving and reviewing prescriptions using pharmacy computer systems; and determining type of substance, strength or dosage and quantity to be dispensed. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.

PTCB certification is highly desired/preferred

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. | This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter. | This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, overtime, weekends and/or holidays. | This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion. | Immunization screening will be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. | This position is a Mission Essential position. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. | Heavy lifting up to 15 lbs may be required. | The incumbent must possess a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) National Pharmacy license/certification within 6 months of employment. | This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. | This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. | This position requires Tuberculosis testing.
